Chocolate-dipped mini donuts sold across America are being recalled after a customer suffered an allergic reaction because the product contains milk products that were not declared on its packaging.
Better Bakehouse Snack Company is recalling certain lots of its Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts after discovering that the popular snack was incorrectly labeled.
The affected donuts were distributed nationwide at stores such as Target and were also sold online through Amazon, putting potentially affected products in the hands of consumers across the country.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s announcement, one allergic reaction has been reported in connection with the recalled donuts. The individual has since fully recovered.
However, the FDA warned that consuming the product could pose a serious risk to anyone with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity.
'People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,' warned the recall notice.
An allergic reaction to milk can range from relatively mild symptoms such as hives and stomach problems to anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening reaction that can cause difficulty breathing and a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
The recall stems from a mislabeling issue at the company's contract manufacturer. The manufacturer has identified the cause of the problem and taken corrective action, according to the company.

The recalled product comes in a 7.05-ounce carton containing five individual 1.41-ounce pouches of mini donuts.
Affected packages have the UPC 3 50041 39210 3, a lot code of 26078 and a Best If Used By date of September 15, 2026.
The donuts were manufactured and distributed in March 2026.
Anyone who finds the recalled product in their pantry should not eat it, particularly if they or a member of their household has a milk allergy.
Consumers can throw the donuts away or return them to the retailer where they were purchased for a refund.
Better Bakehouse is working with retailers to remove any remaining affected products from store shelves and online marketplaces.
