FLASHBACK: Twitter Account For Fenway Park Shuts Off Replies To Nostalgia Post After Everyone Compares To Modern Times

America has changed, and here’s a great example for you.

When the 2026 season started for Major League Baseball, the Boston Red Sox held their home-opening game at Fenway Park, Friday afternoon, and if you’re aware of the culture of Beantown, then you know that’s an (unofficial) holiday in that city. Well, the night before (Thursday), the official Twitter account of Fenway Park had posted a pure nostalgia video from the 1950s to get fans excited for the new campaign. But that’s not what happened at all.

Instead, Americans left and right realized how much our beautiful country has changed, and how we’re not living in the same United States that people in the 50s were.

Men had on ties, women wore dresses, the city looked like it was actually being taken care of, yeah, we don’t have any of that anymore.

And the frustration from Americans was so loud, it forced the Red Sox to shut off their replies.

America of the past is unrecognizable when compared to today. Sad.

What a beautiful city and crowd. This world no longer exists, it was willfully destroyed.

Watching archival footage from 70 years ago feels like looking at a completely different civilization.

People treated public spaces like Fenway Park as sacred ground, not just another backdrop for a 15-second TikTok dance. The streets were clean because dumping trash on your own sidewalk was considered shameful, not standard operating procedure.

We convinced ourselves that sloppiness is just “being comfortable” and that letting public spaces decay is just a cost of modern living.

Go to any Major League ballpark today, and you’re navigating beer spills, paying $19 for a lukewarm draft, dodging belligerent drunks looking for viral clout, and staring at thousands of people who can barely pull their faces away from glowing screens long enough to see a walk-off hit.

Say what you want about the 1950s, but dismissing the entire visual and cultural standard of that era as mere “nostalgia bait” misses the point entirely.

Wanting clean streets, safe cities, and a public that takes enough pride in their communities to actually dress like adults shouldn’t be a radical, old-school concept. It used to be baseline American culture.

I’m just saying: if a simple Red Sox hype video leaves half the country mourning the loss of basic decency and standards, maybe that’s a wake-up call we desperately need to look into.
