Christian discipleship, the reflection concludes, is about living out your beliefs consistently, not simply speaking about them.
"It's possible to become very good at saying the right things while avoiding the responsibilities that those words imply. Hypocrisy happens when our parents and reality move in different directions.
"We can say I care without caring. We can say, for instance, I will help without being helpful. How many unfulfilled promises are hanging in our closets? We can speak passionately about faith, yet allow our everyday lives to tell another story.
"The challenge of Christian discipleship is therefore not simply to speak well, but to live consistently."
