Attorneys for Michael Desronvil, the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial, said on Tuesday that they were going to file a bar complaint against defense attorney Kevin Reddington over his public statements about their client.
Attorneys Edward Paltzik and Tyler Cox, who are representing Desronvil, spoke with Fox News host Sean Hannity about Reddington’s continued attempts to have their client retroactively thrown off the jury — and if that didn’t work, to damage his reputation beyond repair in the court of public opinion.
Hannity asked whether there was any legal recourse for them to pursue on Desronvil’s behalf, and Cox was quick to say that they already had a plan.
“Oh, Sean, I can tell you, we’re going to file a bar complaint,” he said. “Look, he filed, in his words, that we just heard a second ago, he said that all he’s done is file a motion. Even if you take that as true, which it obviously isn’t, the motion that he filed is unprecedented. You don’t attack jurors this way, you don’t single them out, and we’re going to file a bar complaint. I want your audience to know, I want you to know, that’s happening.”
“Absolutely,” Paltzik agreed.
Paltzik has made several appearances on Desronvil’s behalf, accusing Reddington of setting a “nightmarish precedent” when he claimed that the juror had violated the law when he did not agree with the other jurors in the Clancy case.
“That is the most outrageous thing I have ever heard in almost 20 years of practicing law. It is categorically false,” Paltzik told Fox News. “In accusing a juror of committing a crime, Kevin Reddington is clearly violating the Sixth Amendment. He’s clearly violating the right to trial by jury. … The question now is, do we want to have a Constitution? Do we want to have a Sixth Amendment? Do we want jurors to feel safe when they show up to perform their civic duty? Because we’re not going to have a criminal justice system if jurors are afraid of reprisals.”
