Miguel, the Grammy-winning American R&B singer, plays three concerts in South Africa from 21 to 23 May 2027. He performs at GrandWest in Cape Town on Friday, the Sun City Superbowl on Saturday and SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Sunday. A soul singer returns after a long gap
Miguel Jontel Pimentel performs simply as Miguel. He is an American singer and songwriter who mixes R&B with soul, funk and rock.
His breakthrough came with Kaleidoscope Dream, his second album, in 2012. Its single “Adorn” won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song in 2013.
He has released five studio albums since 2010. Other well-known songs include “Sure Thing”, “All I Want Is You”, “Coffee”, “Sky Walker” and “How Many Drinks?”.
South African audiences know him well. He toured the country in March 2013, according to the Cape Argus newspaper. In June 2014 he sang at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Durban.
Three cities on three nights
The tour is called Miguel Live in SA. It opens in Cape Town on Friday 21 May 2027 and moves inland the next day.
On Saturday 22 May, Miguel plays the Superbowl at Sun City, a resort in North West province. The run ends on Sunday 23 May in Pretoria.
Webtickets lists 6 p.m. South Africa time for each night. The promoter has not said whether that is the door time or the start of the show.
No opening acts have been announced. The promoter has not published a setlist, but its event text names the hits listed above.
Who is bringing him
Vertex Events, a South African events company, is presenting the tour. It has brought R&B, soul and gospel singers such as Ne-Yo, Kenny Lattimore and Tasha Cobbs Leonard.
Thato Segoale is the company’s executive director. “Bringing Miguel to South Africa for three amazing live, world-class shows is what we aim to produce,” he told the Cape Argus.
The booking fits a wider pattern. Webtickets also features shows by American R&B names such as Ne-Yo, Brandy and Brian McKnight.
Vertex Events itself has Ne-Yo booked at SunBet Arena on 18 October 2026, seven months before Miguel plays the same hall.
Not every reaction was warm. The news site Briefly reported mocking comments on social media about older artists touring South Africa.
Tickets and prices in rand
Webtickets has sold tickets online in South Africa since 2007. Buyers can also pay at Pick n Pay and Boxer supermarkets, according to the vendor.
In Cape Town, seats run from R1,190 (about US$72) in the upper blocks to R2,490 (about US$152) on the floor.
At Sun City, the cheapest restricted-view seats cost R990 (about US$60). Floor seats in Block A cost R2,990 (about US$182), before a booking fee.
In Pretoria, restricted-view seats start at R1,190 (about US$72). The front rows of Block A cost R2,950 (about US$180).
Early press reports gave a starting price of R950 (about US$58). On 1 October 2026, the lowest price on Webtickets was R990 (about US$60), at Sun City.
Cape Town: GrandWest and the Grand Arena
GrandWest is a casino and entertainment complex run by Sun International, a South African hotel and casino group. It sits at 1 Jakes Gerwel Drive, near Goodwood.
The site lies about 11 kilometres east of the city centre in a straight line. Cape Town International Airport is about 8 kilometres to the south-east.
GrandWest also has a hotel, restaurants and the only indoor ice rink in the Western Cape, according to Sun International.
Late May is autumn in Cape Town, and the winter rains often begin then. Bring a warm layer for the trip home.
Sun City: a resort show near a game reserve
Sun City is a large holiday resort in North West province. It lies along the border of Pilanesberg National Park, a game reserve set in an old volcanic crater.
Sun International says the resort is within a two-hour drive of Johannesburg. Most visitors arrive by car or on organised transfers.
The Superbowl is the resort’s indoor concert and conference hall. A Saturday show allows a weekend stay with a game drive the next morning.
Hotel rooms at the resort are booked separately from concert tickets. Prices change with demand, so compare them before choosing the Sun City night.
Pretoria: SunBet Arena at Times Square
SunBet Arena is part of Time Square, a casino and hotel complex in the east of Pretoria, beside the Menlyn Maine district.
Sun International describes it as an 8,500-seat venue. It also hosts basketball, including games of the Basketball Africa League.
The arena is cashless, so food and drinks are paid by card. Pretoria is South Africa‘s administrative capital, north of Johannesburg in Gauteng province.
For all three venues, a ride-hailing app such as Uber or Bolt is the simplest way home after dark. Agree a pick-up point before the show ends.
