Paul McCartney has revealed some new tidbits about performing at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July 3 wedding in New York City.
On Friday, the 84-year-old former Beatle appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and said Taylor asked him to sing the 1964 hit “I Want to Hold Your Hand” at her wedding.
However, McCartney had his own request regarding the classic tune.
“I said, you should sing along, and you should sing it to your man,” the Wings frontman said as the audience laughed.
Kimmel replied: “Seems like reasonable advice!”
The single — released in 1964 — was The Beatles’ first number one single in the US and was credited with igniting Beatlemania stateside after they performed the song on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”
Page Six previously reported that after Swift and Kecle exchanged vows, “Taylor’s mom Andrea invited everyone into the reception room where the stage was set up,” where McCartney performed.
Swift’s longtime pal Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks was also said to have performed at the star-studded extravaganza, which stretched into the early morning hours of the following day.
McCartney and Swift have been friends for years and once appeared together on the cover of Rolling Stone.
In 2024, the “Live and Let Die” singer was spotted at one of Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Wembley Stadium, days after celebrating his 82nd birthday.
Swift attended a McCartney concert at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles earlier this year.
While appearing on BBC Radio 2 last May, McCartney also praised Swift.
“Taylor is very good. She’s very clever,” he told host Vernon Kay.
Comparing her success with what The Beatles experienced, he opined: “You do see the parallel, you know, like, fame and the amount of fame, and the worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had.
“But I don’t think she needs any advice, to tell you the truth.”
