CV NEWS FEED // Donald Trump has retaken the lead in the polls that he lost in August when Kamala Harris first became the Democratic presidential nominee, according to new data from the RealClearPolitics National Average.
“With just eight days until the presidential election and millions of ballots already cast, Vice President Kamala Harris is down 0.1 points nationally and 0.9 points in the RealClearPolitics Battleground State Average,” RealClearPolling reported.
Trump additionally began outperforming Harris in betting averages across the country during October. According to RealClearPolling, on October 1, Harris led by 2.5 points in the betting average at the beginning of the month, but Trump led by 23.6 points on October 27.
Other surveys and polls are also finding Trump to be slightly ahead or tied with Harris. Surveys from CBS News and Rasmussen Reports show Harris up one point, according to RealClearPolling, but a Forbes/HarrisX poll says Trump is up two points. A late October Wall Street Journal survey found Trump to be up three points.
RealClearPolling noted that “Though things look as good as they ever have for Trump a week from Election Day, some warn that the shifting momentum could be artificially manufactured,” especially when it comes to betting markets.
“Slight shifts — especially those within surveys’ margins of error — are not predictive, and statistics do not tell the whole story,” RealClearPolling cautioned. “But eight days out, they tell an important part of it: Namely, Trump is no longer the underdog.”
