Ukraine launched a wave of devastating drone and missile attacks overnight targeting industrial facilities and oil depots in several Russian cities.
The brutal aerial onslaught caused a series of major fires to break out, as emergency services struggled to contain the damage.
Ukrainian UAVs targeted the industrial Orgsintez plant in Kazan, a city located 526 miles to the east of Moscow.
The facility is one of Russia's largest manufacturers of high-strength plastics and is situated in the northern outskirts of the city.
A gas tank close to the industrial site was struck in the attack, causing it to burst into flames.
Video images shot by locals show a raging inferno with giant flames leaping into the night's sky.
In a press release, local officials said: “Today at 5:20 am in the suburbs of Kazan, a gas tank caught fire as a result of a UAV attack."
They added that were no reports of any casualties and that the head of Tartarstan. Rustam Minnikhanov, later inspected the damage.
An oil depot in Engels, Saratov, also came under attack from Ukrainian drones overnight on Monday.
The fuel facility is believed to be the same one that was struck on January 8, sparking a huge fire that was only extinguished five days later.
Images shared on social media channels show a large conflagration on the horizon, with thick plumes of black smoke spiralling skywards.
