A Ryanair flight bound for Ibiza has descended into chaos after a mid-air brawl broke out between passengers.

Cabin crew were forced to intervene and shout at a passenger to "sit down" after allegedly "attacking" fellow travellers and ignoring the seatbelt signs.

Shocking viral footage from inside the cabin shows several passengers in disarray as one man is confronted by one of the air hostesses.

Over the rumble of commotion along the cabin, a man was seen being warned by the cabin stewardess to "sit down, now!"

The staff member shouts at the passenger standing in front of her as she tells him a second time to return to his seat.

The brawl unfurled during a Ryanair flight from London Stansted to Ibiza Airport on Monday, October 5.

According to a fellow passenger, fury began as the plane attempted to land in Ibiza and the man stood up to use the toilet, ignoring the seatbelt signs lit ahead of landing.

As a result of his antics, the plane was unable to land and was forced to re-enter the Balearic airspace.

Passengers allegedly began shouting at the man due to the disrupted descent, which sparked the mid-flight row.

Passenger Harry Watson from Northampton recounted the shocking brawl, telling NeedToKnow that one passenger in particular was "very verbal" towards the disruptive individual.

He said: "Everyone started shouting at him. As he went back to his seat and people were shouting at him – one guy was being very verbal.

"The lad didn’t like it, so he got angry and violent towards the guy, which caused a fight to break out."

Mr Watson claimed the passenger then began "attacking other passengers" and had to be restrained multiple times.

He recalled: "This happened multiple times. The lad started attacking the other passengers and had to be restrained a lot.

"There was then another guy that got up and hit the lad.

"Everyone got very annoyed after a while, especially because the plane couldn’t land and had to go back in the air again."

When the plane eventually landed, police arrested and handcuffed the man before escorting him off the plane.

A spokesman for Ryanair said: "Crew on this flight from London Stansted to Ibiza (5 Oct) called ahead for police assistance after a passenger became disruptive onboard.

"Police met the aircraft upon landing at Ibiza Airport, and the disruptive passenger was removed.

"Ryanair has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take decisive action to combat unruly passenger behaviour, ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a respectful and stress-free environment, without unnecessary disruption."
