Sunny Hostin is taking another swipe at “petty” Kelly Clarkson following the release of security footage from the Brooklyn store where the singer claimed she was mistreated.
During Thursday’s episode of “The View,” the ladies at the Hot Topics table discussed the newly released footage from the Tuesday episode of “Pablo Torre Finds Out,” with Hostin doubling down on her stance on the controversy.
“It seems like she kind of had a bit of a tantrum because she starts putting things back kind of quickly,” Hostin, 57, said, noting that Clarkson “wasn’t in the store very long.”
Guest co-host Raven-Symoné interjected, saying, “She was petty,” to which Hostin agreed, adding, “She was a little petty.”
“When you have a huge platform, there comes a lot of responsibility with that,” Hostin said earlier in the segment of Clarkson’s millions of followers. “I just can’t imagine that she doesn’t know that there’s that social media mob hanging out on the internet.”
“The rage machine is something I’m sure she has been subjected to because she’s a star,” the attorney continued. “The video did change my perspective a little bit.”
However, Raven-Symoné, 40, also pushed back on the idea that Clarkson, 44, should be criticized for speaking out about her experience simply because of her large following.
“I think it’s unfair just because she had that many followers she’s not allowed to express how she feels about what happened to her,” the “That’s So Raven” alum argued, recalling how she once felt disrespected on a red carpet and fans didn’t agree with her when they saw footage.
“I would say to those watching me and to those listening to Kelly, our experience about the situation might not resonate with you the same way that it resonated with [us],” she said. “You don’t know my past. You don’t know what I’ve been through.”
Raven-Symoné also pointed out that Clarkson grew up “not with a lot of money,” saying, “If somebody’s touching her trigger button about wealth or money, you don’t know how she received that.”
The Disney Channel alum added, “I saw the video, too, and I feel like if you treated her like every other person that came into that store, then you’re telling everybody they can’t afford it.”
Hostin previously said during Monday’s episode of “The View” that she thought the situation should have been “handled privately,” adding, “I don’t feel great about it being on social media.”
Clarkson sparked a public back-and-forth with curiosity shop Art of Play in Brooklyn Heights on Saturday after taking to X (formerly Twitter) to accuse the store of treating her like Julia Roberts’ character in “Pretty Woman.”
However, when the business later claimed that the $15,000 mechanical bird Clarkson wanted wasn’t for sale, the “Since U Been Gone” singer accused the store of lying.
“Okay, cool. So you’re not only rude, you’re also a liar. Got it,” she wrote on X. “I never blast people, but you, my friend, were an exception.”
Art of Play later released another statement clarifying that Clarkson had been in the store for only five minutes and describing the situation as a “misunderstanding.”
Co-owner Adam Rubin exclusively told Page Six that he found the saga “ludicrous” and “surreal,” describing it as a “he-said, she-said” situation.
“So she’s going to say one thing, I’m going to say another thing,” he said. “The point of it is, nothing happened in the shop that was so dramatic that it’s worth throwing a Molotov cocktail into a mom-and pop business.”
Rubin also blasted Clarkson for what he called a “reprehensible abuse of power” while chatting with us.
Clarkson returned to the stage in Las Vegas Wednesday, asking the audience, “Are you all ready for a good night?” as the controversy continues to rage on.
