Another suspected overdose was reported Thursday in Oxford, Mississippi – the same college town where two University of Mississippi students were recently found dead on the same day.

The 22-year-old victim, who is not a student and survived the early morning ordeal, had “synthetic kratom products” in their possession, police said.

“This incident is not connected to the recent death investigations ongoing in our community,” Oxford Police Department said in a statement, adding that it was “not student-related.”

Authorities also found kratom products near the scenes where two Ole Miss students died on September 21 in what officials are treating as separate incidents.

However there is “no indication” that the kratom found near Thursday’s victim “was purchased in the Oxford area,” according to police.
