The NFL Just Made An Example Of ‘Juice,’ And The Hypocrisy Is Rich

The NFL’s outrageous and hypocritical punishment of San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk is the latest reminder that the “No Fun League” has officially lost its mind.

Juszczyk, nicknamed “Juice,” found himself in the league’s crosshairs after scoring a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins, according to Fox News. Why? He struck a pose pretending to chug a beverage after scoring. The NFL’s No-Fun Police immediately pounced, slapping the fullback with a ridiculous $14,926 fine for violating league conduct rules.

Imitating a quick gulp was an “offensive demonstration” in “poor taste,” according to the NFL. The league even threatened to suspend him if he dares to pretend to take another sip.

The absurdity is staggering. Juszczyk’s home crowd literally chants “Juuuuuuuuuice” every time he touches the ball. He told ESPN that he does not even drink beer. But the league office instantly assumed the worst, deciding that any drinking gesture must be alcohol-related.

Here is why the hypocrisy stinks: The NFL laps up beer money. The league receives massive cash from Anheuser-Busch as its official beer sponsor, putting Bud Light ads and commercials on television screens nationwide and featuring actual players.

Right after Juszczyk scored his touchdown and struck his pose, the broadcast cut directly to a commercial for Michelob Ultra.

You can’t make this stuff up.

The league will gladly take billions from beer companies to flood your living room with alcohol ads, but the moment a guy nicknamed “Juice” pretends to take a drink on the field, the league acts scandalized.

Of course, selective outrage is standard operating procedure for today’s NFL. While they police harmless touchdown celebrations, fans are growing increasingly exhausted by the league’s relentless push to alienate them. Between virtue-signaling end-zone slogans like “End Racism” and male cheerleaders performing effeminate gestures, the NFL seems far more interested in catering to corporate elites than the millions of fans who actually tune in on Sundays.

Juszczyk is currently appealing the absurd fine. If the NFL is going to keep lining its pockets with alcohol sponsorships, it needs to stop treating its players like criminals for mimicking a quick chug.

Either clean up the double standard or admit the truth: The league’s moral crusade is nothing more than a total sham.
