The UK observed the COVID-19 Day of Reflection on Sunday with hundreds of local events across the country.
Bereaved families and friends gathered by the National COVID Memorial Wall in central London on Sunday to mark the fifth anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The memorial, which stretches along the southern bank of the Thames, is made up of thousands of red hearts drawn by those who lost loved ones during the crisis.
A commemoration event took place near Lambeth Bridge, just metres from the wall, featuring speeches from local politicians and frontline workers.
