Recently, rumors have sprung up about a clash between Elon Musk and Marco Rubio. The speculation began when The Times published an article on March 10, 2025, which alleged that the two had a major argument. According to this piece, Musk criticized Rubio for failing to fire redundant employees at the State Department.
Despite these allegations, all parties involved, including the president, have denied that this argument took place. Trump demolished an NBC journalist who asked him about the supposed slip and denied that it ever took place. Likewise Musk made a public statement supporting Rubio on X. Despite the firsthand accounts from within the Trump administration, the mainstream media has continued to run with this false narrative.
Trump had no time for this baseless allegation. When an NBC reporter asked him about the supposed rift between Rubio and Musk, he said. “There was no clash. I was there. You’re just mediocre, and you’re not supposed to be asking that question because we’re talking about the World Cup. Elon gets along great with Marco, and they’re both doing a fantastic job. There is no clash. Who are you with? No wonder. NBC. Any other questions about the World Cup?”
The drama started when a progressive activist attacked Elon Musk for his remarks on Ukraine. Adam Lowisz said, “I agree, anyone engaging in corruption should be sanctioned. But also, you got to stop pretending that Putin isn’t the aggressor. Ukraine is the victim. Knock it off with the nonsense. You seem focused on only criticizing Ukraine but not Putin for some reason.”
However, Elon Musk refused to be cowed. The tech CEO fired back, “I literally challenged Putin to one on one physical combat over Ukraine and my Starlink system is the backbone of the Ukrainian army. Their entire front line would collapse if I turned it off. What I am sickened by is years of slaughter in a stalemate that Ukraine will inevitably lose. Anyone who really cares, really thinks and really understands wants the meat grinder to stop. PEACE NOW!!”
Oddly enough, a Polish politician decided to enter the fray and attack Musk. Radoslow Sikorski, a member of the Polish government, attacked Musk and SpaceX. He said, “Starlinks for Ukraine are paid for by the Polish Digitization Ministry at the cost of about $50 million per year. The ethics of threatening the victim of aggression apart, if SpaceX proves to be an unreliable provider, we will be forced to look for other suppliers.”
Marco Rubio quoted Sikorski’s post and defended Musk against these criticisms. He explained,”[You’re] just making things up. No one has made any threats about cutting Ukraine off from Starlink. And say thank you because without Starlink, Ukraine would have lost this war long ago, and Russians would be on the border with Poland right now.”

Musk thanked Rubio for coming to his aid adding, “What Secretary Rubio says is absolutely correct.” This interaction flies in the face of the mainstream media narrative. It seems apparent that Rubio and Musk are far from enemies. Rubio made a public statement of support for Musk, and is interested in protecting the CEO from baseless slander.
