Cuban-born illegal immigrants, 89 and 73, busted in Miami for dealing drugs, stashing guns

Two Cuban-born illegal immigrants who’ve racked up lengthy rap sheets in the US over decades are behind bars after being busted by Miami police for allegedly selling drugs and stashing stolen guns.

Cesar Valdes, 89, and Magdaleno Medina, 73, have been in the US illegally for more than 46 years, arriving on separate days in 1980 when Jimmy Carter was still president, Fox News reported.

The seniors’ recent troubles began Aug. 19 when an undercover cop bought $60 worth of cocaine from Medina at their home, according to the Miami Herald.

On Sept. 9, cops returned with members of the SWAT team and a search warrant. Valdes was there, and police also found ammunition, stolen firearms, more than $4,800 and dozens of clear bags containing 141 grams of cocaine and 1,278 grams of weed.

Both men were slapped with multiple criminal charges, including armed cocaine trafficking and grand theft of a firearm. 

They pleaded not guilty and are being held in a Miami jail while subject to ICE detainers. Their lawyers with the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office declined comment.

The illegal immigrants entered the country without inspection near Key West, Florida, on different days in May 1980, the US Customs and Immigration Enforcement told Fox News.

Medina has four prior felony convictions for cocaine smuggling, drug possession and drug trafficking, according to an ICE spokesman.

Records of Medina’s prior arrests and convictions were unavailable, and it was unclear whether he ever served time behind bars.

Valdes’ charges in Miami-Dade County include cocaine possession and probation violation in the 1980s and 1990s. It was unclear whether he spent any time in jail.

“Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, if you break the law, you will face the consequences,” said the ICE spokesman.

“Criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S. We will find you; we will arrest you, and we will deport you.”
