‘He Was the Most Divisive President’: Megyn Slams Hypocritical Barack Obama for His Presidential Center Speech

I know you were probably celebrating Juneteenth with your family on Friday, so you might have missed the opening of the Obama Presidential Center and the “Hope and Change” lobby in Chicago.

The Problematic Portrait

The “Hope and Change” reception area has the hideous portrait of the two of them, where Michelle Obama looks like the president and Barack Obama looks like backup girl number two. It is crazy that either one of them allowed this.

I guess it wouldn’t be emasculating if the woman had been the president, but here he was the president for eight years. She was the first lady, and not a particularly great one. She didn’t really accomplish anything.

She did something on school lunches, which everyone seemed to hate. I was kind of into it because I do think school lunches should be healthier, to be honest. She started the “Let’s Move” campaign to get kids moving. Okay, that’s good. I’m not in favor of childhood obesity or adult obesity, for that matter.

Other than that, what is she going to be remembered for? Well, now it is going to be her bitterness. She let that mask slide almost as soon as she left office, but especially since she started that podcast with her brother.

But she is going to be remembered for all those Vogue covers that Anna Wintour gave her, and their attempts to make us think she is a fashion icon (sorry, but we don’t), and just the fawning press coverage that she was given notwithstanding the fact that she hadn’t accomplished much.

Revisionist History

In any event, they had their grand opening. The Clintons, the Bushes, and the Bidens all came. It was super chummy, and they decided to begin the whole thing with a land acknowledgement because they apparently didn’t get the message that Democrats lost in 2024 in part because of their woke policies.

Kamala Harris will not be president in 2028 because she is still on board with all of that stuff, as is Barack Obama apparently. Remember when he was supposed to be the more reasonable? Then, you have Barack Obama talking about what people want right now:

OBAMA: People aren’t looking for perpetual anger and division. They are looking for fairness and common sense and mutual respect that deep in our gut we want to find a way to turn towards each other again, not further away… I believe this because I’ve seen it all across our country in cities that have worked together to reclaim their streets from crime, in rural communities that have rebuilt their economy, in businesses that are finding new ways to make housing affordable… in those ordinary people in the Twin Cities who braved frigid temperatures, risked their own safety, standing shoulder to shoulder to look out for their neighbors and sometimes look out for strangers because they knew that was the right thing to do. I’ve seen it.

People right now are looking for fairness and common sense and mutual respect, he says, and tips his hat to the ICE protesters in Minnesota. I am not sure he had his television on because they bit the fingers off of an ICE agent. It didn’t feel mutually respectful to me, and it’s an obvious dig at President Trump, right?

The Obamacare Con

He wants less division? He was the most divisive president we had had in modern history during his term. He was the one who seized one-sixth of the U.S. economy, the health care system, and shoved a new system down the throats of Americans who did not want it. It was the first time ever we created a new entitlement in the United States that did not have majority support. He shoved it down our throats with lies. “You can keep your plan if you like your plan.” “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”

It was so egregious that even his supporters, as time passed, would ultimately label those the lies of the year. Those of us who objected to it back in the 2008 to 2010 timeframe knew he was lying because the experts made it clear he was. He just continued to do it through his teeth, but, you see, he doesn’t get called out as a liar because he is not brash, he is not orange, he doesn’t have the hair, so we had to believe in him. We had to believe “Hope and Change” wouldn’t lie to us.

And when he shoved that plan down our throats, he looked at John McCain and said, “Elections have consequences, John.” What he meant was, fuck off, right half of the country that doesn’t want this. He was so glib and smug about it. He couldn’t have cared less that old people were genuinely scared about what was going to happen to them, and they were right to be.

Origins of Lawfare

He was the one who politicized cases in a way we had never seen before. Now, Trump does it all the time. Joe Biden did it all the time. Joe Biden was calling Kyle Rittenhouse a “white supremacist” when he was running for office, all before we even had a trial.

That was brand new ground thanks to Barack Obama. We didn’t used to have presidents weighing in legal cases like that, never mind the race of the perpetrators and saying things like, “If I had a son, he would’ve looked like Trayvon Martin.” How dare you. Stay out of it. Don’t prejudice the trial for either party. That was Barack Obama.

He is the one who told us he couldn’t do any more on immigration reform until he magically took out his pen and his phone and found more that he could do extralegally. He is the one who activated his attorney general to be his right-hand wingman, instead of an objective chief law enforcement officer. And now, I mean, those days are gone. The AG basically just works for the president these days. It is obviously true under the Trump administration, but if we can thank Barack Obama for changing that previously existing norm.

History of Lies

So, I don’t want to hear any lectures from him about mutual respect or divisiveness because he is the architect of it. He is very good at selling it in a much nicer way. He is a good orator. He sounds nice. He has good tonality in delivering his speeches.

But make no mistake about it: He is far more divisive when it comes to the way he actually governed than even “Orange Man Bad.” President Trump is much more moderate than Barack Obama ever was. Ever. This is all a facade. It is a lie that they are putting on camera there. And of course, they ate it up hook, line, and sinker.
