Former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is joining Fox News just months after leaving the Trump administration, the media company announced on Monday.

Leavitt is set to join the network as an on-air contributor starting in November. Typically, on-air contributors are not full-time staff but under a contract or recurring agreement and are often paid for their media appearances. The agreement typically prevents them from appearing on other networks.

“Karoline’s firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said. “We look forward to her providing our audience with authentic and sharp insight across all Fox News Media platforms.”

Leavitt said she was “grateful for the opportunity to continue appearing on Fox News Channel as an official member of the extraordinary team at Fox News Media.” During her time as press secretary and during President Donald Trump’s campaign, Leavitt frequently appeared on the network.

Leavitt stepped down from her role as press secretary in August to spend more time with her growing family.

“I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary,” Leavitt said at the time. Trump called the move a “decision I totally understand and respect.”

Leavitt remains one of Trump’s “top outside” advisors, and the White House has not yet named a new press secretary.

The White House did not immediately respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment on Leavitt’s new position at Fox News.

The revolving door between Fox News and Trump’s White House remains active. After taking over in January 2025, Trump tapped “Fox & Friends Weekend” co-host Pete Hegseth as Defense secretary, a position that was later renamed War secretary. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and interim D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro are also former Fox News hosts.

Kayleigh McEnany, who served as Trump’s press secretary from April 2020 until the end of his first term, joined Fox News as an on-air contributor in March 2021. Fox named her a co-host of “Outnumbered” before the month was out, and she began in the role in early April 2021.

It’s common for White House press secretaries to jump to legacy media positions soon after leaving the White House. Dana Perino, who was former President George W. Bush’s press secretary moved to Fox News in 2009 after Bush’s second term ended. Former President Joe Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, accepted a role at MS NOW after her departure from the White House in 2022. Dee Dee Myers, who was President Bill Clinton’s first press secretary, became co-host of CNBC’s “Equal Time” in 1995, months after leaving the job.
